In late 2018, Steve Bannon, previously Donald Trump's chief strategist, visited the UK preparing for a address at the Oxford Union.
The event was interrupted by numerous protesters, and Bannon, scheduled to board a flight that evening, informed Jeffrey Epstein in an message: "Protesters delayed my talk don't think I can catch the flight we are heading to heathrow".
Epstein replied: "There. Is a Gulf Air that leaves at 950 with a stop in Bahrain". Bannon replied: "You are an amazing helper".
These exchanges were released on this week together with over 20,000 documents from the estate of Epstein, the deceased financier convicted of sex crimes.
The release by the House oversight committee contains an iMessage chat where Bannon's identity is withheld. Media outlets managed to confirm his involvement by matching the timeline, events, and locations mentioned.
For example, Epstein talks about arranging a plane from the UK for the redacted user in the chat, and commends their "address at Oxford". Bannon took part in the News Xchange conference on 14 November, and delivered the speech at the Oxford on November 16.
Bannon, who is not accused of any wrongdoing, did not reply on the request for comment.
Bannon served as the president's key aides in the lead-up to the presidential election and during the initial phase of his presidency, but resigned from the administration in 2017.
He has admitted he was making a documentary about Epstein before his passing and allegedly has approximately 15 hours of recordings. In a recording of his show recently, he said: "We plan to publish the series, the multi-part documentary, next year - early next year."
But the newly released materials indicate Bannon's connection with Epstein went further than documenting his life, with the convicted paedophile at times appearing to serve like a aide.
A short time prior to the exchange in which Epstein seemed to arranged a charter jet for Bannon, Epstein said: "how does it feel to have the highest-paid booking agent in the world ".
Bannon thanked him: "You are pretty good assistant", to which Epstein responded "Massages. Excluded".
Discussing a visit to "AD" in another message, Epstein assured Bannon: "I'll make sure you are well looked after."
The released messages also reveal Bannon and Epstein talking about British political matters in 2018.
Earlier on the same day his address at the Oxford Union, Bannon messaged Epstein: "I became involved in the Brexit thing this day with Farage, Boris and Mogg."
Then, in what seems like a reference to Theresa May, the struggling British leader at the period, he added: "The guys are attempting to move on. May today / tomorrow…"
Epstein suggested Bannon: "In my view staying as much as you can uk. Ideal- so people see the dedication of your follow-up."
Soon after, Epstein asked: "Will Theresa May survive". Bannon answered: "It seems unlikely BUT the guys over here have no balls" and added "Johnson ; Gove; Jacob Rees-Mogg; David Davis - someone has to step up".
Theresa May was eventually removed in May 2019 after surviving multiple attempts of lack of support in late 2018.
A representative for Reform UK told the BBC: "Farage has not been in a meeting with Steve Bannon, Jacob Rees Mogg and Johnson." And there is nothing to suggest that encounter occurred.
The US House of Representatives will decide soon on whether the justice department should make public all its records related to its probe into Epstein, who died in jail in that year.
Interest in Epstein's associations with powerful figures was renewed recently after the publication of over 20,000 documents from his archives.
A portion of those referenced Trump, who has repeatedly rejected any wrongdoing. The president was a friend of Epstein's for years, but says they fell out in the early 2000s, a couple of years before Epstein was initially charged.
